EV Charger Installation Cost Calculator UK

Build a September 2026 budgeting range for a home or light-workplace EV charger from parking setup, region and the extras that usually move a quote. This is not a fixed price or installer quotation.

Your project

Change any assumption and the estimate updates immediately. Figures include VAT for a typical domestic wallbox install on private parking.

Most homes need one wallbox. Add more only for multiple dedicated outlets or workplace bays.
London figures allow for denser access, parking and labour overheads. They are still indicative.
Most UK homes use 7kW on a single-phase supply. 22kW needs three-phase capacity and usually costs more.
Flats and workplaces more often need landlord consent, metering design or load management.

How the estimate is built

The calculator starts from September 2026 budgeting bands used across this site: about £800 to £1,400 including VAT for a straightforward UK 7kW driveway install, and about £900 to £1,800 in many London situations. Extra charge points, three-phase hardware, long cable runs and board upgrades add further allowance.

Checked extras add typical low and high allowances for cable length, pedestals, load management, access, electrics and consent work. They are planning ranges, not a bill of quantities.

What this does not cover

  • Major civils, ducting across third-party land or full car-park rebuilds
  • Public highway schemes where the council owns the charger
  • A guaranteed price from any installer
  • Grant deductions. Budget gross first, then subtract only a confirmed grant

Use the result to prepare questions, then compare written scopes for the same parking bay and cable route.
